How to make HCL 4% solution (MMS activation) - Solution MUST be 4%

Looks like I entered a wrong amount in two places, although the end result is correct. Corrections are in red color text. 

Max's recipe to make 4% HCL from 37% HCL is: 

15 grams of 37% HCL + 107 grams of water

37% HCL weighs 1.19 grams per milliliter
15 grams ÷ 1.19 = 12.6 ml of 37% HCL (round up to 13 ml)

Add 13 ml (15 grams) of 37% HCL to 107 ml (107 grams) of water = 120 ml (4 fl oz) of 4% HCL
 

I have spent HOURS trying to use dilution calculators but apparently they were made for highly intelligent people, which explains why I couldn't figure out a ratio! Lol

Hi I would like to confirm that we can use hydrochloric acid(muriatic acid). 
in a grade that is sold in a hardware store or similar. 
I read one thing saying the difference in hydrochloric acid and muriatic acid is the purity of the product and the latter can contain some iron impurities? 
We are struggling to find a more pure grade product in Quebec.

That product is "HYDROCHLORIC ACID 20° BAUME - 31.45% (MURIATIC ACID)"  

You can dilute 31.45% down to 4% or whatever you want. Use this online calculator  endmemo.com/bio/dilution.php  4th calculator down the page.

If making CDS, then muriatic acid is fine as only the CLO2 gas should be in the CDS water. 

If you want some unactivated MMS in CDS (as you will have in MMS1 as it is only 10% activated when made) then you can add drops of MMS to CDS as per  Protocol 102

Ok cool,. So if I understand well, the impurities will not pass over in the gas,. Only the Clo2 will pass?

If the reactor solution is heated when making CDS, it may be possible that other gases may end up in the CDS water. 

If you are going to use the CDS making shot-glass method that AK shows in his video, I have developed a newer method that is much faster than my old method that he shows, where you can make CDS is 3 hours using MMS and 4% HCL.
