Question about Calcium Hypochlorite dissolved in distilled water:

Hello ,all! I have been treating my Saddlebred Horse for a rock hard enormous tumor (size of a nerf football) for about 2 1/2 weeks. I am happy to report that the tumor built a drain and has burst three days ago, still draining liquid and dead tissue. I applied MMS and DMSO 8 times daily onto the tumor and gave it orally at the same time. (THANK GOD horses actually enjoy the flavor!) However, for the remainder I would like to add MMS2 to the treatment. Problem is it's extremly hard to get a horse to swallow capsules. I am thinking about mixing the Ca. Hypochlorite with distilled Water and Syringe it, but want to make sure that by mixing it I don't create THE active ingredient and it dissipates as Gas before I get it into my horse. My chemistry knowledge is extremly shaky, can anybody enlighten me?? Thanks in advance.

Hi, appaloosadreamer. I would do extensive research on horse gut chemistry before forcing it . As I recall, horses are incapable of regurgitating so they don't have that safety feature that we have. Is there a particular reason for wanting to give the horse MMS2?

Hi Paul: The reason for putting Mac on MMS 2 is that I am pretty sure that this tumor is cancerous. As I understood Ca Hypochlorite is basically stomach acid in dry form and it's purpose is to help the MMS1 penetrate tissue at a deeper level. Did I understand this right? Why are you concerned? Do you think it would be unsafe for a horse? True, they cannot throw up like we do, but then I personally would not take it if I expected it to make me sick. Are there such isssues with people?

When you mix the mms2 with water, if you don't dilute enough it is pretty nasty tasting, very acidic and might burn some. If you just start out slow and with plenty of dilution, like a 1/4 tsp in a quart of water (1/8 th tsp if you want to be really careful), I don't see how you can hurt the horse. Put the powder in and let it sit for a few hours or overnight and then just take the clean liquid from the top to put in the syringe. You don't need the granules. Have water for the horse to drink afterward.

You can also try wrapping the capsule in some kind of food the horse will swallow without chewing if that is possible.

Hi, appaloosadreamer. What you've said is correct for people, but a horse's digestive system isn't the same. I would put some in his drinking water and see if he'll drink it rather than forcing it down his throat. I did this with CDS for my Tennessee Walker and he didn't hesitate, Out of curiosity, I set out 3 pails two of plain water and 1 with CDS added. He chooses the CDS every time.

What dose of CDS are you giving your horse (ml/litre) in the water?

I'm treating a highland cow with 10 ml CDS mixed in ~4 oz water delivered in ~1 litre of 14% horse pellets 3 times a day (normally she only gets hay and what she can browse ). She has mastitis - at Christmas she was going down hill and I figured that she wouldn't make the winter. Then I discovered From Wil Spencer you could feed MMS orally to cows. I started then with CDS. She is steadily improving, the udder swelling has gone down a lot - she's still oozing puss at several sites but much less. She's looking more alert and attentive.

We've also just started Ali a quarter horse mare on CDS for a snotty nose. But we could dose her water as well. We use buckets in the winter time as well. That's very interesting that your horse will choose the CDS water - eh?

Hi Paul! Will try that. However: you probably know as well as I : if a horse does not want to take something ,you wear it! My plan was to dilute until I cannot taste much any longer, put some Molasses in it and go. Just wanted to make sure that I do not loose the vital ingredient (which might not be needed for keeping pools clean) Thanks for your suggestion!

Hi Martin: I usually count 1cc of CDS (unmixed) for 400lbs of Bodyweight on my horses . I now use the 50% citric and mix it with about 2 or 3 oz of water. None of the horses ever refused that,they actually grab the syringe from me. With acute stuff like runny noses, coughs, abscesses, etc I do doses every 2 hours for 3 or 4 times, and then two more times at night if needed.
With stuff like that Mastitis you might try to spray it on the udder and spray DMSO on top of that . It gets warm, but not uncomfortable. (I tried it on myself first)
I do this every time I go out to give CDS orally. Hope that info helps.

Hi fourfingerz. I add 200 ml CDS@3000 ppm to 20,000 ml (5gal) water - which is a 100x dilution therefore a result of 30ppm.
