Yet another american company "Disinfecting Environmental Solutions" advocating the safe use of chlorine dioxide.
Add this to the list! Read their PDF's! It is "approved" by the EPA!

I've been using MMS and CDS for years but my wife has always been scared of it b/c it bleached a shirt and a washcloth one time. She read the "it's bleach" disinfo and since it did bleach our fabric she's had a hard time accepting MMS.

I actually went and bought this "VitalOxide" b/c I noticed it has mms in it and they mentioned that it would not bleach fabric. I've gotten my wife to use it and she actually loves the stuff. It works very well as a household cleaner. No surprise to me as MMS is the active ingredient. VitalOxide is a good product but is expensive.

Does anyone know how to make our own MMS as a household cleaner in the right amount so that it will not bleach fabric but will still be effective? Something that will disinfect the kitchen table or sink but will not ruin fabrics?

My wife is coming around to MMS b/c the VitalOxide works so well but what I really want to accomplish is to make our own disinfectant that will not bleach fabric.

Anyone? I've tried using the search function for forum results but could not pull anything up related to cleaning (and not bleaching) household stuff.

Rondellejones,
I would say if you have VitalOxide maybe it says on the container how many ppm or what % the chlorine dioxide is. I understand diluted enough it will not bleach hair. Maybe you can experiment with an old shirt and use 1drop with say 10ml of water the 2 drops etc.

Just a thought incase no one has tried it for fabrics. I use the 10drops per 1oz for counter etc. and haven't had a problem. But fabrics may need a different formula, possibly even between fabrics it can change.

Time to experiment :)
