Hai All

I have been using MMSI for the past one year. Recently, I can see some sort of floating precipitates in the MMS I solution. As I know, it is only 28% sodium chlorite of distilled water. Is there any chance the chemical can precipitate? I normally store at dark, room temperature.

Or I certainly think its not, but is there any possibility for contamination (any growth of microbes) of MMS I solution?

Thank you for your quick reply Mr.Steve.

I have a flip top dropper - plastic bottle (dark green color). There is no seal or liner in bottle's lid but no leaking issue from this lid.

If it is flakes of sodium chlorite, how can i dissolve it again? change of bottle or filtering out, would help?

I'm guessing Steve was asking the question because if there was a liner, it might be part of the problem. since you have no liner, it won't be.

You can empty out your MMS into a glass or ceramic cooking pot, and apply a small amount of heat to it. Stir with a plastic or wooden spoon. Everything must be VERY clean, or you will activate the MMS - (It's a mistake I've made) All the flakes will go back into solution. ONce cooled, funnel it back into the holding bottle.

i have same problem.. i just saw some little flakes wirling in there and i just bought this bottle one or two weeks ago :s
is it ok to use it just like that or do need to dissolve them again? how come that there are flakes in there already btw?

Well, Iam not sure whether I can do your suggested procedure carefully. is there any other ways?
If I keep under the sunlight for some time, would it help to dissolve?

Just wonder, How would I avoid this problem in future? currently, i just store at dark, room temperature.

Sunlight will cause the MMS to become weaker. It is affected by UV rays.

Another option would be to put the bottle into a little water on the stove and heat it slowly. You just want to get the solution warm so that the precipitate formation dissolves.

As Mr. Steve mentioned, the flakes appearance were because of bottle's liner. Regardless of that, I transferred the mms solution to a clean beaker and did mild heating for a while, then flakes disappeared. but it reappeared again upon cooling.

So, I used a 0.2 micrometer membrane filter to remove the flakes. The solution is very clear now.

To Mr. Steve and Madam. PAM

Is my procedure is okay? The mms solution is light green in color through out the operation. I suppose, if there was any reaction with anything, it would have changed to yellow (if iam not mistaken). Is there a possibility for sodium chlorite to react with membrane filter?

Please advise.
Can I continue to consume the MMS solution?
