On June 29, 1995, a doctor said to me, “You have cancer. It has spread to your spine and ribs.”
So I know how you feel if you have a terminal illness.
No one is prepared to receive that kind of report. At first, the news is so shocking you can’t realize the full meaning of it. You walk out of the doctor’s office in a daze.
It’s devastating—unless you know that you will go straight to Heaven when you leave this life!
Can we really know that
for sure?
Yes! I John 5:13 says, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life ....”
The Apostle Paul wrote in the Bible, “Having a desire to depart and be with Christ; which is far better:” (Philippians 1:23).
He also wrote, “I am ready...to be offered.” What did he mean? He was in a Roman prison and knew he was about to be martyred, and he said, “I am ready.” He did not say, “I’m terrified” or “frightened” or “worried.”  He said, “I am ready.”
Ready to die!
How could he speak with such wonderful peace? He could because had such excellent assurance that when he left this life, he’d immediately be with Christ in Heaven!
Paul was sure, and you can be sure as well.
That all of us are lost, helpless sinners
“For all have sinned,” (Romans 3:23) and, “There is none righteous, no, not one,” (Romans 3:10).
That our sin demands payment
“the wages of sin is death,” (Romans 6:23).
That you may have what Paul had:  forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life
All genuine gifts are free. God’s gift of eternal life can be yours because the Lord Jesus Christ paid for our sins when He died on the cruel cross of Calvary. “Who...when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high,” (Hebrews 1:3).
Note I Peter 3:18: “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God....”
Also Romans 5:8: “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Christ has already paid for our sins by His death and resurrection! Because “the wages of sin is death,” He died in our place to settle the account.
Forgiveness, eternal life, plus Heaven are yours the moment you receive Christ as your Lord and Savior and place your trust in Him for your salvation.
John 1:12 says, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power (the right, the authority) to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”
I received Him when I was a little boy before I entered first grade! It was my godly mother who explained all this to me and helped me to put my trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for my salvation.
That’s why I have peace, although I have cancer and don’t know how long before I’ll depart for Heaven. I do not worry about this. I have no fear. I go to bed at night to sleep, not to worry or fret. I have what we read about in Romans 5:1 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Peace! Wonderful peace!
You may have that God-given peace also.
Just admit that you are a sinner, believe that Christ died and rose again for your sins, and, by an act of your will, receive Him now before it is too late.
Having done that, believe these words from Christ: “He that believeth on me hath everlasting life” (John 6:47). “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand” (John 10:28).

- Evangelist Paul Levin, 1914-1996
The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. (Nahum 1.7)
