Create CDS at home

My issue:

I hope you can help me. Well, I'm trying to make CDS myself and failed on my first attempt. I have already searched here in the forum and over google and co but unfortunately I found nothing. Maybe someone knows what I did wrong.

So I have;

- 1 liter bottle with sodium chlorite - NaClO2
- 1 kg sodium peroxodisulfate - NA2S2O8
- 1 kg pentapotassium bis(peroxymonosulphate)-bis(sulphate) - K2SO4 / KHSO5

I would like to produce a chlorine dioxide solution with 0.3% and have adhered to the following measurements. The package from the manufacturer says there are 7 grams in the package. 95% of it is penta potassium and 5% is sodium peroxodisulphate. So the manufacturer has 250 ml bottles with sodium chlorite solution and the bag with the powder.

Unfortunately I only have 100 ml amber glass bottles, so I calculated it up to a litre and down to 100 ml. In the end I used the following dosages.

What I've done:

I mix 100 ml sodium chlorite with 2.66 grams of penta potassium and 0.14 grams of sodium peroxodisulfate and let it react with each other in about 90 minutes at normal room temperature.

The result:

But what comes out in the end stinks so extremely of chlorine and is extremely brown so I don't want to drink it or even dilute it. I suppose that the dosage information from the manufacturer may not be correct on its package. And I used a lab scale with three decimal places. Because the amount of powder weighed out looked much more than what I usually get out of the original bags from the manufacturer.

So my question now; does anyone have any idea what I did wrong or where my issue is? Thanks for any help in advance

Kingb, only one of those three ingredients is used to make CDS, 22.4% sodium chlorite solution (MMS). I have never heard of those other two ingredients. You will need to get 4% HCL to make CDS from MMS.

Well, I already know the procedures with the cucumber jar and hydrochloric acid in all its variations. I also know the page the user Jmac sent me but it does not contain any help or answer to my specific question (but thanks anyway!).

But what I am trying to do is called "chlorite peroxide sulfate process".

And I don't want to advertise the manufacturer (but if anyone wants to know the manufacturer, he can contact me via PM here over the forum if this is possible). But after 3 more attempts and very (very) much research I can report the following;

One have to dilute the 25% sodium chlorite solution. And very strongly. So the latest thing I tried was this;

100 ml of distilled water
1 ml sodium chlorite solution
0.14 gram penta potassium
2.66 gram sodium peroxodisulfate

I put the water in a 100 ml amber glass bottle and added the penta potassium to make it more alkaline. Then I added the sodium chlorite solution and after 3-5 minutes the sodium peroxodisulfate powder. Then I waited 90 minutes.

As a result this time I really got chlorine dioxide but only a very weak solution this time. So I would need the exact dosage for a 100 ml bottle of CDS after the "chlorite peroxide sulfate process" with the above mentioned ingredients.

But I'm already close to it, so I tested the last attempt by myself. And like I said before; it looks and tastes really after CDS but only super super weak. So, still nothing useful...

Why I want to do it this way and not different because I find it easier to just weigh a little bit of powder in advance and then if I need it wait 90 minutes and then I have fresh CDS in best quality and also for a great price. But what kind of money is earned with CDS I don't have to mention here. In any case I want to save money and just replicate what I used to buy.

So if anyone knows about it; thanks for the help in advance!

The easeiest and good way how to make CDS is:
Get a baby bottle, connect it by a thin tube (that are using for intravenous) with a bottle with 500ml distilled or mineral water. One side is in a baby bottle twisted thru the nipple, and the other side is on the bottle with distilled/mineral water down to the bottom. Frst put 10ml of Sodium chlorite 25% solution and 10ml 4% hydrochloric acid or 50% citric acid in the baby bottle. Screw on the lid together with the nipple, carefully with the tube. Put the baby bottle in some container with hot water. Wait. Ocassionally shake the baby bottle. The gas of chlordioxide will go from the bottle thruth the tube in the other bottle with water as yellow colour. It will last at most 30 minutes, not more. At the end the colours of CDS and the solution in the baby bottle should be the same colour and that is the sign that the reaction is finished.  Now put some label on a bottle with CDS, close it and keep it in a refrigerator. It must be kept in a dark and cold place. The gas is unstable. 
Be careful, do not breath the gas from bottles! The solution on a baby bottle should be thrown or keep it as strong cleaner, do not use it for any other.

Ask @CLO2 about making quick CDS. You get a dry method which only takes 3 hours.

You dissolve 10 grams of Sodium Chlorite 80% powder with a little warm water.
You dissolve 10 grams of Citric Acid powder with a little warm water.
Add 500ml distilled water to a 1 litre container.
Combine the dissolved SC and dissolved CA in a smaller container.
Put into the small container into the 1 litre container so that the 500ml water doesn't reach the top of the small container.
Close lid of 1 litre container, make sure it's airtight.
Wait 3 hours and it's done.
