Below are some mixing instructions for making your own MMS from 1 lb. of sodium chlorite powder, and also mixing instructions for the amount of 50% citric acid needed to go with the MMS solution made from the 1 lb. of sodium chlorite. The instructions are mostly from Jim's web page, but I added some volume measurements to make it easier. JIm says in his book to use 1167 ml of water with 1 lb. (US) of sodium chlorite. 1167 ml is 39.46 oz (US) and 40 oz is close enough to make it easy to measure, but if you want to be exact, use 1167 ml.

MMS mixing Instructions

The instructions below are adapted from Jim's instructions for how to make 1 lb of sodium chlorite into MMS. I have done it, very easy, just add 5 cups of water, stir and let sit.

To Convert the Full One Pound Package into 48 fluid ounces (6 cups) of 28% MMS Solution:
Step 1: Fill a non-metallic large bowl or half gal. jar with 40 fluid ounces (5 cups; 1167 ml; 2.61 lbs by weight) of warm or room temperature distilled water.
Step 2: While sprinkling in the entire contents (1 pound; 453.59 grams) of the sodium chlorite flakes, stir with a non-metallic spoon or shake jar.
Step 3: Once all the flakes are dissolved, cover and let it stand for several hours or overnight in a dark location.
Step 4: The solution will be transparent with a brown or green shading. Some sediment will have fallen to the bottom of the container and/or a light film on the surface.
Step 5: Remove the surface film, if any, and slowly transfer the solution into a clean and preferably dark plastic container leaving the sediment behind.
Step 6: You now have 48 fluid ounces (6 cups) [57 ounces by weight] of 28% sodium chlorite solution ready for future use. This is the equivalent of 14 of the normal 4 ounce MMS bottles. Refrigerate the capped bottle. If you have a few power outages over the next 40 years, the MMS solution will not be harmed or damaged. One person called saying they worried that the light in the refrigerator might harm the MMS. This is silly. Maybe they don't know that the light goes out when they close the refrigerator door. Besides, they should have stored the bulk MMS in a darkened jar. A tall bottle of prune juice would provide a darkened bottle after being properly cleaned out.

To Prepare One Small Four Ounce Bottle of 28% MMS Solution:
Step 1: In a small bowl place 4 level tablespoons of sodium chlorite flakes/powder.
Step 2: Add 3 fluid ounces of distilled warm water (max temperature - 150 degrees Fahrenheit).
Step 3: Stir with a non-metallic spoon and cover for darkness. Let the solution sit for 3 hours or overnight. Expect some settlings to fall to the bottom.
Step 4: Pour slowly into a dark 4 or 6 ounce bottle for storage and future use. Leave settlings in the bowl - discard them.

Citric acid 50% solution mixing Instructions

To Convert the Full 2.0 Pounds Package into 53 fluid ounces (6 and 2/3 cups) of 50% Citric Acid Solution:
Step 1: Fill a non-metallic large bowl or half gal. jar with 32 fluid ounces (4 cups; 946.36 ml; 2.086351 lbs by weight) of warm or room temperature distilled water.
Step 2: While sprinkling in the entire contents (2 pounds) of the citric acid powder, stir with a non-metallic spoon or shake jar.
Step 3: Once all the powder is dissolved, cover and let it stand for several hours or overnight in a dark location.
Step 4: The solution will be transparent. Can be strained through a paper towel and slowly transfer the solution into a clean and preferably dark glass or plastic container leaving any sediment behind.
Step 5: You now have approximately 53 fluid ounces (6 and 2/3 cups)] of 50% citric acid solution ready for future use.

Another method for mixing MMS: Just use the number 2.57. Multiply the amount of Sodium Chlorite by 2.57 and the answer will be how much water in ml you need. Divide the amount of water you want to use by 2.57, and this is how much Sodium Chlorite you use. For example 454 grams Sodium Chlorite times 2.57 equals 1166.78 ml.
454 x 2.57= 1166.78 (1167)
Or, 1167 ml of water divided by 2.57 equals 454 grams of Sodium Chlorite. Thanks Steve!

Apologies for reanimating a 'dead' thread here.

But are you saying that MMS has a shelf life of 40 years? (I'm not talking about the sodium chlorite flakes, but the ready made MMS)

Speaking of the flakes; does anyone know how long the flakes are good for?

Thanks.

The "40 years" statement was from Jim Humble; I copied and pasted that from a web page he had in the past. I think he was referring to refrigerated MMS lasting that long.

I would agree with what Steve says above.
