COINTELPRO (an acronym for Counter Intelligence Program) was a series of covert, and often illegal, projects conducted by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) aimed at surveilling, infiltrating, discrediting, and disrupting domestic political organizations.
COINTELPRO tactics included discrediting targets through psychological warfare; smearing individuals and groups using forged documents and by planting false reports in the media; harassment; wrongful imprisonment; and illegal violence, including assassination. Covert operations under COINTELPRO took place between 1956 and 1971; however, the FBI has used covert operations against domestic political groups since its inception.The FBI's stated motivation at the time was "protecting national security, preventing violence, and maintaining the existing social and political order."

I guess it is possible, however Bruce goes through a pretty thorough vetting (at least for spam) - I am very familiar with cointelpro - whether from the goob or from industry - If you have a concern, I'd definitely use the private message function and let Bruce know directly.

Several of the people on the Forum have pretty good BS detectors, and we do try to be on the look out for disinformation.

One of the main ways professional operators work is by using personal attacks to push your emotional buttons and bring the quality of the discourse down. We don't see too much of that happening here. People generally have an even tone and do what I urge everyone to do:

Just for giggles, I paste below the reply one person attempting to sign onto the forum sent back to my request for why they're interested in joining:

"Ah, so this is how you prevent people from pointing out that your product is little more than the bleach people use to clean their kitchens with. Nice."

You can't make this stuff up.
