Has anybody used clarified butter?

We all know that butter is good for health, but what about" Ghee".
I like it on my broccoli ,green beans ,also when frying onions ,garlic ,tomato sauce (Indian recipes)
I know that clarified butter has been used in India for thousands of years. It doesn't have to be refrigerated ,I have seen in a health food store ghee mixed with coconut oil.
Any comments on ghee?

Ghee is simply butter which has been slowly heated and the milk solids removed. I was introduced to it when I lived in India, where, as you say, it is used extensively. It does not have quite the same taste as butter - but it stores a good long while, even without refrigeration. The advantage is that it's not a "manufactured" food - in other words, it doesn't use chemicals to get to the state of pure oil. And it can be used by people who have refrigeration issues.

I have no particular feelings about health benefits - I like butter - some people think it's the fastest way to a coronary. Diets are the one thing, after religion and politics, that most people have really strong beliefs about -
