Hi,

I'm hoping for some advice regarding treatment of miniature goats. One has died already of paratuberculosis (bacterial infection) and the others might be infected but it's unknown until the results come back next week. To be proactive I'd like to try MMS.

Jim's book says:

"Normally my suggestion for someone who is getting sick would be to give a 4- to 6-drop dose, wait one hour, and then give another similar dose, doing this so they can go to sleep after the second dose. Now remember, for animals we are talking about 2 drops for each 50 lb. or 25 kg of body weight. So if the animal weighs 200 pounds, that’s an 8-drop dose, and if it weighs 25 pounds, that’s a one-drop dose. In kilograms that would be a one-drop dose for each 11 kg. For everyday sicknesses caused by bacteria rather than viruses, you can use 2 doses a day and that will usually take care of things."

This paragraph really confuses me. If I have a 50 pound goat, should I be giving it a 4-6 drop dose 2x per day, or a 2 drop dose? Anyone have experience with treating animals or know someone who might be able to help?

Thanks!
Ryan

Looks like you would give a 2 drop dose twice a day.

Personally, I would start protocol 1000. Start the goat at 1/2 drop every hour if possible. If all goes well then up it to 1 drop every hour and so on. You will probably have to put it in some feed. You will also need to try and get 1 ounce of water in for each drop of MMS.
If goat reacts poorly (diarrhea, lethargy etc.) then stop for the day and let goat recuperate. The next day drop back to a previous dose size and stay there for a bit. Then after a while you can try upping the dose. You may have to up only 1/4 or 1/2 a drop at a time.
Hope this helps you.
All the best,
Denise

Pam had posted on the YaHoo MMS thread that Jim's dosage was :"It's 1 drop for every 25 lbs. If the goats weigh 50 lbs, it's 2 drops." Sorry for the confusion, she would know better than I would!

Actually, it was a post where someone had posted the direct quote from Jim's book for dosing, and I just repeated it. I think the confusion came because he also mentioned 2 drops per 25 kilos, which is 25 x 2.2lbs or 50 lbs.
