My friend did not read the instructions and applied 6 drops (activated) straight mms to a cold sore using a Q-tip and didn't not wash it off for about 20 minutes afterward. That spot is very red now. Did it burn the skin? And will it leave a scar? She is very very concerned now! Thanks for any insights you may have about it. Thanks.

It will not leave a scar, and she did not burn the skin.

The skin was already irritated with the cold sore, she irritated it a bit more with the citric acid, but it should be fine in a few hours - other than the cold sore may still be there - or not, depends.

When all else fails... as the joke goes.

True, reading instructions is a good thing. It's why I keep pushing getting Jim's book.

for the cold sore next time take hydrogen peroxide (3% solution) very low price and very quickly healthy.
applied 6 drops (activated) straight mms to a cold sore using, can scorch and he leaves scar, you maybe will get lucky and it all will be fine.
if a sore will hemorrhage, or be festering, spray with 3 % hydrogen peroxide 3 times on a day.

her skin is red around that spot, but it is not blistered or crusty either. It is very soft and smooth. It seems to be discolored from the acid soaking into the skin. Is there any way to keep it from getting worse? Thanks for the advice.

johanson, you know, you didn't even try MMS because it was too expensive, and now you're telling people on the forum that it will cause scarring and they should do h2o2, which in reality is a much more highly oxidative (more likely to cause scars) than MMS ever will - because of the way MMS works.

I'm beginning to think you just might be a troll. If that is the case, you may want to seek more fertile ground, because trolls are not well accepted here.
