The reason for the baking soda is to buffer the acid (which some people find difficult) - and fix the taste and diarrhea - DMSO does that, so you would not need both. I can't speak to the affect of baking soda on DMSO, but it seems to me that if you're doing DMSO orally, you don't need the baking soda.
