Hi Dan,
Good job watching your numbers. That bottle of acid is a little more than twice as strong. It looks like you are saying the actual hydrogen chloride concentration listed on the label is 31.45%?
Actually, either way 30% or 31.45% then you want to
mix it 1 part acid to 9 parts water. This gives you a 10% concentration (9 + 1 = 10 divided into 1 equals .1, that is 10%) of what you purchased. Ten percent of 30% is (.10 x .30 = .03, that is 3%) a 3% solution of the hydrogen chloride, which is what we want. Ten percent of 31.45% is (.10 x .3145 = .03145, that is 3.1%) a 3.1% solution of the hydrogen chloride, which is still good.
In the calculations I gave earlier 1:4 with the 14.5% acid, the final hydrogen chloride was 2.9% and I earlier tried 1:3 which gave me a 3.625% hydrogen chloride. They both worked but 3% is about right.
So, again you want to
mix that acid 1 part acid to 9 parts water to give you about 3% hydrogen chloride which is just right. This HCl activator will substitute for the 50% citric acid, use 1 drop of this acid to 1 drop MMS and let activate 20 seconds.
To give you some more reference, on this German site page (
www.vitalundfitmit100.de/epages/61507702.sf/de_DE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/61507702/Categories/MMS1_ProdukteSets) they are offering hydrochloric acid at 4% as an alternative activator for the MMS. That is overkill really, 3% and even 2.9% is plenty.
Please remember to be very careful, that 30% acid coming out of the bottle is very strong so don't let it splash in your eyes or onto anything.
Let us know how it works for you,
Michael

It says in relevant part:
Contents of the Set's:
100ml MMS 1 (sodium chlorite 28%)
100ml activator (citric acid 50%)
(alternatively also 100ml ~
4% hydrochloric acid as activator selectable)
