A friend lives in a community that has a problem with e-coli in their water supply. He's asked me to come do a talk tomorrow on MMS for the community, so I'm trying to research this quickly.

Normally I would recommend one activated drop per gallon, but for a specific and nasty organism I'm thinking it would be wiser to go higher, like 3 drops per gallon - I'm just guessing here. But I'm wondering if anyone else knows for sure what the right MMS dose is to clear e-coli from water to make it potable.

Hi Colleen,

For water purification - to purify water:

You want to use 1 - 2 UNACTIVATED drops per gallon for clear water, and 3 - 4 drops for cloudy/murky water, and wait at least 8 hours. (You need to use this method for storage, as the citric acid doesn't store well...)

-or-

3 activated drops per gallon and wait only 10 minutes. This according to Jim Humble.

Thanks Bruce. I did see that in another post and in the book.

I'll find out tomorrow if their water is clear or not, but it has been tested and has e coli, so the community is a bit panicky right now.
I was wondering if anyone has actually tested water for bacteria levels to see at what drop dosage the bacteria is definitely eliminated. I saw something in Jim's first book about him testing water, but it wasn't specific and e coli is nasty at best and deadly ay worst, so I want to be sure before I advise them.

Hi Colleen,

It seems to me all the studies proving chlorine dioxide is effective against food pathogens should reduce concerns about its effectiveness with e coli, which is a common food pathogen. Maybe there are links here www.mmsmedicalresearch.com/. E coli is just another pathogen that I'm sure chlorine dioxide has no problem detoxing, in fact it is probably more effective than anything they will find, just based on the studies that have been done. That is why it is used for food and water disinfecting. Although I think Jim was saying these studies are disappearing off the net now, if you have trouble finding them.

To repeat myself - The following methods will purify water of any pathogens, including viruses and such resistant strains as Giardia - The multi-drug-resistant e-coli can't develop protection for itself from oxidation by chlorine dioxide:
