GMO stands for Genetically Modified Organism; "an organism whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques".

for example, you pick up a seed.
you realize seed is natural and cant be owned.

you really wanna own that seed, cuz youre greedy.
you send that seed to the lab, and then you modifify it slightly.

now its not a natural seed anymore, because the organism has been altered / modified.
you now own that particular seed after a patent claim, and any other seed that has been modified in the same way.

congratulations. you are now ready to start companies like Monsanto,
a company not only selling modified seeds, but selling seeds that will not even grow again next year.

that means you have to go back to Monsanto and buy more seeds before you can plant more.

thousands of farmers have committed suicide in India due to Monsanto and its GMOs.
Make a habit of two things:
to help; or at least to do no harm.
Walking is man's best medicine.
Everything in excess is opposed to nature.

Thanks for the explanation ix, and that's exactly why I posted that. PLEASE be very careful of ALL corn you eat, cause it's on the list of most Genetically Engineered foods:

1. Corn
2. Soy
3. Papaya
4. Rice
5. Tomatoes
6. Rapeseed (Canola Oil)
7. Dairy Products
8. Potatoes
9. Peas

Have a look at this 4 min video:

You DO NOT want these foods in your system while trying to heal with MMS. It's something that's not talked about much on here, but I feel needs more attention, as it can hinder a persons healing.

Sorry for the ALL CAPS............ but I get excited sometimes in trying to make a point. :S

In one respect ljl has it much better than we do. She lives in a country where GMOs have to be labeled.

The problem in the US is that labeling is not required and is actively fought by the large agri-businesses. Can you see what would happen to campbell's soup if every can says "may contain genetically modified corn, wheat, canola oil or come from animals fed genetically modified feed" - unfortunately a lot of people don't read labels. How about "may contain transgenetic products or be manufactured in facilities where those products are in use" - well that might be easier to put on a lable, might mean the same thing, but even MORE people won't understand.

The french study released recently was quite telling, and the agri-businesses had their bought and paid for scientists trying to disprove it. I hope, in the long run, it all comes back to bite them!

I guess we'll know more after Proposal #37 is voted on. Even THEN I still don't trust the FDA, Gov't, etc... to follow thru with making the major food companies follow the letter of the law.

As far as purchasing fresh produce at the grocery store, you can look at the bar code on the vegetable and if it starts with the number #8, if it does it's a GMO product, a #4, it's conventional, and a #9, it's organic!

BUT, there isn't a law that sais produce companies have to do this... but it helps to look and see.
