Hello, to all.

First time on the Forum. I have been taking MMS1 & 2 for about two years.
When I purchased the MMS1 on line for the first time, it seemed worked fine.
It had a greenish look to it and strong chlorine smell after mixing.

However when I got my second bottle it had almost no greenish look and I don’t
know how to describe the smell, not chlorine.

So, I purchased all I needed to make my own… and it can out just like second bottle MMS1.

Here is my question, which one is correct. How can you tell if you have made it correctly?

I do have books on order, just can’t wait.

Thanks, Jim.

Hi Jim. Welcome! You don't say what you purchased. MMS1 is a 28% solution of Sodium Chlorite - NaClO2- in water. Citric acid is the recommended activator. With Citric acid dissolved in water to make a 50% solution, it can be used to activate the MMS1 at a 1 to 1 ratio. It shouldn't smell of Chlorine. The MMS2 - Calcium Hypochlorite - smells of Chlorine. Please post more details.

Normal purchase ;
1 bottle sodium clorite
1 empty bottle + 1 packet citric acid powder
Pour the total contents of citric acid into the empty bottle. Add distilled water or best quality water. Leave an air space to shake and disolve the acid. When disolved add water to bring it up to the correct level. That is now 50% citric acid solution. Warmer water will disolve quicker.

I guess I made an abnormal purchase buying 50 # each! :>) How big is a bottle? How much does a packet weigh? It's best, in my opinion to spell it out clearly and concisely in grams, millilitres or whatever units you choose, particularly for newcomers, keeping in mind that people from all over the world are reading here.

Hallo and welcome to the forum 26_sailing2u.

If you are passionate about the subject, you sure have arrived at the right place!

I had similar questions about the sodium chlorite solution. I ordered my stock via a local laboratory supplier from Germany.

My experience is as Steve confirms. Once dissolved in distilled water in a 28% solution, your liquid should be a slight yellow colour and have no chlorine smell. At least that is how I experience my product.

From the different replies I gotten, I’m thinking I bought some inferior Product.
I’ll need to find better places buy it at.

Thank you, for the information.
