Some questions about the CDS.....I have been using pure ice water to collect the CDS. Am I supposed to be using saline solution?

What is the shelf life of the CDS in a closed bottle? In the fridge?

I have been mixing 1 tsp of sodium chlorite and 1 tsp of citric acid in 4 oz water to prepare 32 oz of solution. Seems to be working fine. Any comments?

Needless to say I am way excited about the possibilities of CDS on top of the proven capabilities of MMS.

Hey, Clam, I make mine with distilled water - I think they use reverse osmosis water in the DR, where Jim is. The saline solution is only necessary if you are going to inject the solution - Andreas, in his first video, was talking about using it for a veterinary application (with cows, who can't take MMS).

We're still finding out the shelf-life. I've had some that was over a month old, and still good. Jim Humble said originally a week. It goes much longer, IMHO.

I can't speak to the mixing of 1 tsp of sodium chlorite (I'm assuming you're talking flakes here) and 1 tsp of citric acid - one of the more technically savvy guys will need to address that. I just do it the old fashioned way, and measure with testing strips - <G>.

Hi Pam
In my poor experience, the diference between %'s being used ,must be the reason why there is a final diference between
the two,Andreas and Jim.

Andrea's first video was 10:1 (I don't know what it was in his second), Jim's was 8:1 in his first video. But in Jim's first video he also let it go for 2 hours - and in the second Jim video (the only one available now) he used the diffuser, with a shorter time, but added a second receiving jar. In Andreas' first video he used a shorter time than Jim's first video. Both Jim and Andreas iced down the receiving jar in their initial videos - but not in their second videos. IMHO, there are so many variables between the various techniques, I can't pin it down to one thing.

One Health Minister told me she has bottle of CDS still testing strong after 11 weeks in the fridge, so that is almost 3 months there.

Hi to all and thanks to Michael, Rainbow and Pam....

Thanks for the info....

Pam, I'm interested in measuring the concentration with test strips...could you elaborate or point me to some reference? Only thing I've seen so far are 3 videos, Jim's, Andreas' and one other.

Got a problem....my rubber bottle stopper is melting rapidly. I can't bring myself to use baby bottle nipples....any suggestions?

I'm making a batch of 32oz daily, using a little bit for myself, and the rest is going on my aloe plants which have been fighting a losing battle against fungus for over a year. The weather is cool here in Fort Lauderdale now, so I don't expect fast results, but I will let you know when I see some action. I'll show you a 'before' photo so you will know what I'm up against. (don't know if the photo got uploaded or not)

Hi, Clam - here's a link for silicone stoppers that was posted earlier on the forums (and thanks to Nir who posted it) -

www.stiflow.com/silicone_fab_stoppers.htm

Michael posted directions for using the test strips - I'll have to go get that particular post and link it here.

(surprisingly enough, it was in this very thread!!!! :) )

Boy, I'd love to hear about your plant fungus - I'm thinking about treating my fruit trees...

Hello Michael, Did you find the meter and CD reagents more accurate, simpler, quicker what ever to use?

Still waiting to receive the reagents. Will let you know. If you order them, order them both at the same time. The reagents take a while to get. One person put a bid on the meter for $85 and the vendor accepted it.

To all members who make their own CDS.

I have just received 0-500 ppm chlorine doxide testing strips and tested CDS that I prepared using the exect technique shown by Jim in his long video (with the exception that my water was ice cold as in the first short video). The process was picture perfect. However, the testing iis difficult because of high CDS concentration. It is difficult to judge the number of ppm from the color of the indicator. So, I diluted the CDS at 1 to 40. It is 1 ml of CDS and 39 ml of distilled water. At this dilution ratio, the testing strip showed concentration of about 150 ppm. Therefore, the original CDS concentration is 150x40=6000ppm which is close to what Jim determined and showed in his video. It is probably better to dilute the original CDS even more to increase the accuracy of testing.

I filled two plastic bottles (from the original MMS, 4oz each) and will be using one bottle for maintenance dose
(1ml of CDS=6 drops of MMS) once a day. The second bottle is in the freezer and I will check it after the first bottle is finished. I will let you know if freezing preserves CDS for a long period of time.

Hey Michael, I put in an offer for the CDS tester but have not heard back as yet. But I see they say they come with reagents? As below.

Each eXact Chlorine Meter comes with a Mixing Cap, Cleaning Brush, Instructions and two 100 test bottles of reagents (DPD1, DPD3) for the Chlorine Dioxide tests.
