I'm just starting to "get' the advantage of the shot glass method over the puff method.
and of course, not until after getting the baby bottles and tubing etc...
But that's ok...I'm not gonna lose sleep and it gives me something to mess around with anyways.
I am checking out a cpl jars where I won't have to putz around with non metal tongs to get the shot glass in the jar...here's a link
www.crateandbarrel.com/search.aspx?query=glass%20jars
specifically, I'm looking at the 64oz heritage jar and the smaller, WECK canning jar
9oz & 10oz. BOTH appear to have large enuf openings so as not to need the tongs ....the large one has no gasket, the WECK has one that I better remove...and I can add porous hockey tape to slow down any gasses trying to get out of either jar.
Is anyone concerned the smaller jar may not provide enuf room for expansion of gasses? remember I'm removing the seal.
just thought I'd share.
please don't hesitate to make your comments...good or otherwise
=====================
UPDATE!!!!
I bought the 64oz heritage house....for jumbo batches, plenty wide to set in shot glass by hand,
and two weck jars 18oz.....the wecks are perfect for doing 4oz of water, wide enuf to place the shot glass inside without tongs
I'll get pix asap
