Actually, Kahlon, I think this might be an area set aside for Dr. Wil, but if it is, we'll get this moved to the right place with a redirect.

Thank you, BTW, statins, IMHO, are deadly.

The way that doctor describes the problems with inflamation caused by toxins from bad foods, then mms could possibly get rid of the toxins and the heart could heal itself. And my doctor tried to give me statins but I didnt take them. He is patient with me.

I've gotten so old and cranky that if a doctor gives me too much trouble, I fire them. :P

I go to a doctor for information and expect to be an active participant in my own health care. If they can't deal with that, I'm on my way to finding another doctor. Not telling anyone else what to do, just commenting on my situation.

tish has asked that I post this for her: (her reply button doesn't work)

D.C. Jarvis, a retired physician from Barre, Vermont wrote a book after he retired about Apple Cider Vinegar and Honey and other folk remedies common to Vermont. He dedicates the book to his children and their children and tells his readers that on his mother's side of the family they have lived there in Vermont for at least 5 generations and were quite well acquainted with the benefits of apple cider vinegar and honey. He went to medical school and returned to his roots to SERVE the people, most of whom he could probably trace how he was related to in some way. He used a number of folk remedies in his practice and this book would pass on the experiences of a life time because he knew these folk remedies which were cheap, easily found and very effective were not taught in the medical schools and it was up to people like him to pass it on. He had a dentist friend who travelled all over the world looking at the teeth of the people who lived there. He wanted to look at the teeth of the people who lived way up in the Andes Mountains in South America. The altitude was such that most people could not breath up there especially if they were not used to it so he went up halfway and they met. He noticed they all had little bags they carried and guarded very carefully. When asked what was in the bags, it was KELP. Where do you get kelp so far from the ocean? We go all the way to the ocean to get KELP. For what do you use KELP? The answer they gave was to GUARD THE HEART...

I think a lot of things contribute to heart disease but the one thing that does not cause it is high total cholesterol. For this reason alone, statins are crazy, leaving aside their side-effects.

Cholesterol is our friend and not our enemy. If blood total cholesterol levels are really abnormally elevated, it may well be a sign that something is wrong (such as low thyroid), and the raised cholesterol is our body's natural defence against it. Trying to lower it artificially with statins or other artificial drugs is doing nothing to help the underlying problem; it's trying to make the tail wag the dog.

All polyunsaturated fats/oils are dangerous, i.e. vegetable/seed oils. Olive oil is safer (mostly monounsaturated), but even that has a level of PUFAs that's a bit high for comfort (about 10%).
The fat of ruminants (cows, sheep and goats) should be ok, especially if they are grass-fed.
Pig and chicken fat is more risky, because of the way they are usually fed.
Coconut oil is about 98% saturated, and therefore very stable, and therefore very safe.

I'd recommend people to have a look at the work of Ray Peat in this area.
There are plenty of relevant articles on his website.
