I have a pretty deep pocket and bone loss on a tooth with a root canal. I'm having mild pain, greatly lessened by irrigating with MMS. My dentist is concerned about the acid in the MMS (I guess affecting the enamel on my teeth). I've also irrigated with hydrogen peroxide - which doesn't seem to be as effective as MMS.

My dentist wants to replace the crown ($$$) with another special crown that would go a bit below the gum line (where there currently is a filling). This would enable me to clean the pocket better. $1400 for the new crown on a tooth with a root canal (and I know they can be problems).

Any ideas? Am I throwing money away on this tooth? Should I put in an implant?
Also should I be irrigating with CDS instead of MMS to protect the teeth from the acid?

I'd start with a CDS irrigation - that will eliminate the "acid" consideration. IMHO, start with the least invasive first. You can always have the big $1400 job later - <G>

Hi Thomas,
I have some pretty deep pockets too, and in addition to brushing my teeth w/ MMS, I always keep a skin spray (10 drops activated MMS to 1 oz pure water) on hand in the medicine chest. I take those little in-between brushes, spray them w/ the MMS skin spray and use them to clean out the pockets.

FYI - I also use the same spray as a deodorant - it works great.

Hi Twest,

Follow Jim Humble's "How to fix an Abscessed Tooth" protocol here:


Basically you add DMSO to a mix of CDS/MMS, and brush.
If you have pain, you have an infection.
You can also use another method, which is what I did and killed a gum infection, and that is:

1) Add 6 drops of sodium chlorite and 6 drops of citric acid to a small glass shot.
2) Wait one full minute before adding 1.5 ounce of DISTILLED water.
3 Add 12 drops of DMSO.

Swish this mix in your mouth, specially on the affected area, two to three times a day.
Your dental health will be very good after two to three days :)

Thanks for the suggestions Pam. What video do you recommend for making CDS. I've seen one on youtube and not sure if it is the best source. Also, one of the responses to my message said to use DMSO with MMS. But this is an infection in a pocket not an abscesed tooth. Do I need the DMSO?

DMSO will drive the MMS deeper into the tissues.. You can do the MMS for a day or two, but if you are not seeing the results you want, I'd add the DMSO. DMSO in the mouth for an abscess helps get the MMS into the teeth -

For CDS (which you're going to use for the skin or mouth, particularly) where you might want a stronger dose, I recommend his Feb video on JimHumbleLive - it's the one that he revised, so it will say "revised" on the title.

I've ordered some DMSO and I'll give this a go and report .
