I believe I have a black mold problem in my house from a past roof leak. I sort of recall reading about using MMS as a mold neutralizer? If I were to mix large batches of the MMS and put the containers into the crawl space where the mold is do you think the vapors circulated through the area would work?

Hi Scoty.

Greetings.

Yes it should work, try and get the molded area isolated with plastic bags around it so as to trap the gas/smoke from the MMS so that the gas/smoke has a chance to stay around the mold area for as long as possible.

You want to gas this area with the mold as long as possible.

Thanks.....

Having just attempted to use activated MMS to remove mold inside a wall, I don't think it's possible to generate enough chlorine dioxide gas that way.

I talked to Steve of Keevy's Corner about this and he says that to generate enough ClO2 gas he uses small containers of maybe a tablespoon of sodium chlorite powder and activates it directly with 6% hydrochloric acid - it will foam up a little, and you don't want to be in the room with this long!

He puts the containers maybe every 6 feet or so along a moldy wall.
