diluting acid with water is exothermic (releases heat). if the acid is strong enough, the water will boil instantly splattering you with acid. :>( adding acid to water, the heat is dissipated by the water. diluting 5% to 4% doesn't matter, but for safety's sake, train yourself to always add the acid to the water.
