Hi,

I ordered and received 1 gallon of MMS and 1lb of citric acid for $37.99 plus shipping. This site has it here, I am just a consumer and was looking for some to ship to my brother in law.
www.revivalanimal.com/product/oxine-animal-health-ah?sku=15101-801&utm_source=criteo&utm_medium=display&utm_campaign=lowerfunnel

The only thing is it looks like it's 2% instead of 3% (3000PPM).

Would it be possible to have someone point me to instructions on how to properly mix and use it in it's 2% strength.

Thanks,

- Dan

Hi Dan. I have looked at Oxine before and it must be sodium chlorite that is in the product, although the label says it is chlorine dioxide (CLO2) . Well, yes, sodium chlorite will produce CLO2 when activated with an acid such as citric acid, which just they happen to sell.

If you read the mixing directions,

and do the math, you see that there are 1890 mg of CLO2 contained in the 1 gallon of Oxine, if fully activated. One drop of MMS contains 6.7 mg of CLO2 if fully activated. So, there are the equivalent of 282 drops of MMS in 1 gallon of Oxine. I don't know what the 98% "inert ingredients" are, so not sure I would ingest it.

Thanks for the response. The instructions you posted specify mixing 3.25oz with 10gm of citric acid , wait 5 minutes and then add 1 gallon of water to end up with a 500PPM solution of activated MMS if I understand it correctly. What if you only add in 1/6 gallon of water or 21.3oz of water to make a solution that is 3000PPM? That is what the others being sold online are correct? Wouldn't that allow someone to make @ 21oz of activated MMS for @ 3.25ox of the oxine concentrate? Or am I misunderstanding how it applies to this? If that is correct it would be much more cost effective.

Thanks,

- Dan

Dan, I think you are confusing MMS1 and CDS. Yes, CDS is sold online (or easily made at home) and the usual CLO2 concentration is 3000 ppm. Oxine is not CDS. It does contain CLO2, and like MMS1, it also contains some unactivated MMS and acid.

CDS is only CLO2 gas in a water solution and can be made by outgassing CLO2 from a MMS+acid reaction into distilled water inside a receiver container. The photos below show CDS being made using the 'shot glass/overnight' method and takes 12 to 48 hours to complete.

Steve, you can buy Oxine without buying their acid activator. A bottle of Oxine by itself is sodium chlorite, so I would say the labeling which states it is CLO2 is incorrect, although instructions say an activator is needed.

I agree that CDS can keep a long time if stored properly. I have been using some kept in a spray bottle in a fridge for more than one year. It is still potent stuff. And no, nothing has been added to 'stabilize' it as none is needed.

So the other poster is correct, it's basically to weak? So the whole gallon of oxine concentrate is equivalent of 282 drops of MMS? To get the same dose of desired MMS you would have to use a lot of oxine and are better off making it or buying elsewhere?

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

About 14 ml of Oxine mixed with 14 ml of citric acid, or better yet, 4% HCL, should yield about the same amount of CLO2 as 1 drop of MMS, which is 22.4% sodium chlorite solution.
