When substituting muriatic acid for HCl, do you need to purify it first? If so, is an approved method for this published, including what % you end up with?

I found this article, but seems not to be conclusive: www.mmsinfo.org/infosheets/hcl_from_muriatic_acid.pdf

If you're not purifying muriatic acid, can you comment on any potential impacts of ingesting the impurities it contains?

You can ignore the advice given in the article at differencebetween dot com because they have it backwards about which solution to add to the other. You always add acid to water, not the other way as they state.

The article you read at my website is info I got from a YT video plus my own experience. Outgassing HCL gas into distilled water seems to work, but I have no way to measure the percentage of HCL.

If you make CDS using 4% muriatic acid, the impurities should not end up in the CDS. To be sure, make CDS in a cold fridge. Might take 48 hours to extract all possible CLO2 from MMS.
