I recently came upon MMS and FGHP therapy at the same time. And NOW more recently, I stumbled into old therapies, like turpentine!
And I always support peoples right to choose whichever therapy they see fit to take!

Thank you Kenneth Walter,
the actual problem is that 'no I cannot have them for my own personal use' the zoning regulation states that. Since I am not at home I have asked for an extension on time to address this issue. The inspector gave me 1 week. We are not allowed to become self sufficient by these kind of regulations. We cannot feed ourselves with this zoning code. It needs to change and become more adapted to possibly emergencies. They teach emergency preparedness yet your hand are tied to old rules.
Oh I too love the crow of a rooster. Yet I have to listen to their unpleasant music. But that is mainstream thinking for you.
I will check into some of your suggestions,
thank you,

OBOY!

Too bad....I was unclear on that!

Have you considered a rezoning appeal? That may buy you some needed time!

If they give you that opportunity, you'll have to schmooze the neighbors.

But obviously I don't know the area or the necessary details.

best wishes to you!

kw,
yeah both to rezone and to request a variance is a major headache that includes town meetings notices to all neighbors, red tape red tape and red tape plus $$$$. Maybe I can somehow request for an exemption just don't know how. My thought also is to try and get a group together to pursue a change in the zoning code to allow fowl on SF-6 properties, that of course will take time and I will have to see if I can keep my brood that long with an exemption. Once back home from my trip I will investigate more. That book you recommended looks very interesting, definitely worth while to buy.

Thanks,
sevenrays

Sevenrays - I would reply to the letter explaining their MIS TAKE as the PETS you keep are exactly that (not profit accumulating domestic animals) and that you have not broken their codes whatever they may be with an explanation of how you are a compliant do-gooder :P . Try to nullify the situation with 1 or 2 letters but make sure to reply to all the letters they send. I've had a little bit of freeman experience in England so it may be a little different for you in AZ. After you have explained their mistake in writing, don't forget to thank them for their concern.

Hi SevenRays,

Years ago I met a young woman at a local goat show who told me that she had single-handedly initiated a campaign to change the zoning laws in Frederick, Co regarding the keeping of dairy goats by homeowners. Frederick is a little town about 45 minutes from me. We're more rural than they are -- it's your basic suburbia there with cookie-cutter houses and 1/4 acre lot sizes (or less). This woman was keeping her goats in a 6-ft fenced backyard and in the garage at night. She went before the town board and made her case: goats provide awesome gardening compost, there's less neighborhood lawnmower noise, they're domesticated and as safe as any dog when de-horned, plus they give milk. She really put her case together and the town actually changed the zoning laws so that now, in Frederick, goats have been given an exemption. Now lots of people in Frederick own goats that didn't before :)

I only met her that one day (I was admiring her goaties and we started chatting) so I don't know the full back-story on exactly what she did and how she did it -- unfortunately. She may have put together a petition... sorry it was so long ago I don't recall everything she said. Just wanted to post the story as inspiration that it may be an uphill battle, but others have changed zoning laws :)

Best of luck

make copies of the letter from the town and mail it to everyone in your neighborhood. tell them you are sorry about the rooster and will fix that. and that as a gesture of good will you will give away your eggs for the next month to them. also, they and their children are invited to visit anytime to talk about how to raise and care for chickens. have you read joel salatin's work? as a last resort, have you talked with the local aclu chapter? or legal aid?

the courts would balance the authority of local governments to make regulations and the rights of the home owner to quiet enjoyment. at issue will be the level of nuisance especially regarding hygiene as well as the commercial proscriptions.

finally, a semi-automatic rifle, a no trespassing sign and a certified notice to the board of health to stay off your property without a court order (along with a picture of jared lee loughner), and a letter to the editor that you will not be taken alive. now that's my style!

jbvtme,

Everything except

I'd disregard the last paragraph, as it does not appear to be conducive to solving his problem but escalating it towards violence!
