I've had genital hsv1 for about 6 months no major outbreaks just mainly discomfort in the area. I finished an 8 week protocol about 2 months ago I finally had some test done, I had an igg igm and pcr blood test done the igg was positive for hsv1 igm negative and pcr negative. Now my question is are there any sort of healing symptoms? I still sometimes feel irritated in that area. Before the protocol I was having nerve pain shooting down my legs and tingling at night that has stopped but the irritation is sometimes everyday. Not painful but annoying. Also what do you guys make of my test results? Will the igg ever go negative? Should I try a pcr test with spinal fluid? I just want to be sure I've eradicated this nasty bug from my system entirely.

I'm sure you've read the online stuff about the IGG and IGM testing. None of it tests for the herpes virus itself, but tests for the antibodies that the body produces if you've ever HAD the virus. I don't know how long it takes for the antibodies to leave the body when there is no virus for them to react to.

But doesn't the pcr test test for the virus itself but only in the blood at the time of the test?
