Generally DMSO will sting when applied on the skin. Interestingly enough, for myself and many others the stinging with redness to follow applies far more on the upper to middle of the body. For myself, especially from the knees and down I don't experience any stinging, however, even there if I apply DMSO on the same place several days in a row, my skin gets red and irritated and I have to stop or slightly alter where it is applied. My wife never experiences stinging from DMSO, upper or lower body, which always surprises me. The genital area is generally even more sensitive, I wouldn't be able to use it there, at least not more than once.
