Hi, i've got an old bottle of mms with its activator (HCL). It's about one year old. On the bottle is says it doesn't expire until 2027. It's just been stored in a cupboard in my kitchen. Do you believe it could have lost some of its potency?

I've just started using it today. I'm not sure if i'm being paronoid, but when i've activated it, it doesn't seem to smell as strong as it did when i orginally used it — a year ago.

I am only using no.1 drop (every hour) ,though, at the moment. I can't recall how many drops i went up to now, when originally trying it.Maybe that's what it is — i was just using more drops last time, hence a stronger smell.

From CDS testing that I have done, bottle A (sodium chlorite solution) begins to lose potency at about 18 months. 

HCL 4% can last 3 years. 

To test your bottles of solution, make a 3 drop dose and see if the color changes from yellow to amber at 30 seconds of activation. You could add this 3 drop dose of MMS1 to 360ml of water and take out 120ml each hour. That will provide a 1 drop hourly dose of MMS1 for 3 hours. There should be a strong CLO2 odor before water is added to the combined liquids from bottles A and B.

Sorry to hijack in, does the sodium chlorite flakes(or powder) lose potency over time?

I have been using SC flakes and citric acid crystals when making CDS, and both chemicals were over ten years old. If stored properly, SCF can last 20 years.
