I have a couple of bottles of Sodium chlorite and Hydrochloric acid that have been kept for three years in my fridge, away from sunlight at a temperature of around 5c.
Can anybody tell me if these can still be used, or are they now too old?

In my opinion, I would mix a 3 drop of activated solution in a tilted glass. Wait a minute or so, looking for the amber color, wave your nose close to the glass, and inhaling slightly for the sharp smell. If it does all that, personally I would use it.

Or even a bigger amount like 7 drops, so you can really see the colour of the liquid.

I've now followed Andreas Kalcker's instructions and made CDS.
The colour looks right and the smell is potent.
Is there any potential danger to my health if I try a couple of drops diluted in 100ml of water?

If you want a reasonably more accurate test,
use some ClO2 Test Strips.

They aren't super accurate, but they will give you a usable and obvious value.

You can get them on Amazon, or look at my website for a link, linked below.

Thank you Bill Pop.
I live in the Philippines so I'll try to find these strips locally if at all possible.

Thank you Bill Pop.
I live in the Philippines so I'll try to find these strips locally if at all possible.

You can buy them from Amazon here: www.amazon.com/LaMotte-3002-Chlorine-Dioxide-0-500ppm/dp/B07NLGS5XH/ref=sr_1_5?crid=1WCNUI3UE0JUJ&keywords=lamotte+chlorine+dioxide+test+strips&qid=1692677727&sprefix=lamotte+chlorine+%2Caps%2C364&sr=8-5

Remember you can cut each strip in half to give you double the amount of strips!
