Where can we find raw materials to manufacture HCl, NaClO2 and other products at home? Is it possible to get a list of reliable suppliers in the world of quality raw materials?

CLO2 Offline Platinum Member Posts: 5393 Thank you received: 4260	You can make reagent grade HCL from muriatic acid. Watch this video. Muriatic acid can be found in hardware stores. It is used for cleaning concrete, tile, etc. Making NaCLO2 at home I don't think is possible. Best to team up some others and buy a barrel of the stuff, either in powder/flake form or as a liquid.

I have asked my sister to check with her pool supplier in FLA USA to see if they offer it and if so to send me the label and data sheet. I will let you know what I learn about this through her.
I had mine made by a chemical company but they weren't so happy to do this because it was about $1.00-1.50 to get a liter.

I can help others in SE Asia if they are stuck.

Are not the vendors of MMS making it at home themselves after they've b ought the raw material? And, again, I think the Church should supply the name of reliable supplies of raw material. Best

Vendors are buying NaCLO2 and making MMS from that. They are not making NaCLO2.

From Wikipedia:
"Sodium chlorite is derived indirectly from sodium chlorate, NaClO3. First, sodium chlorate is reduced to chlorine dioxide, typically in a strong acid solution using reducing agents such as sodium sulfite, sulfur dioxide, or hydrochloric acid. This intermediate is then absorbed into a solution of aqueous sodium hydroxide where another reducing agent converts it to sodium chlorite. Even hydrogen peroxide can be used as the reducing agent, giving oxygen gas as its byproduct rather than other inorganic salts or materials that could contaminate the desired product."

You can buy sodium chlorite from many places, but getting it into your country is the question. It may be confiscated by customs, depending on the country. You may be able to buy some from a chemical company located in your country, but the minimum quantity they will sell you could be too large for one person to use. That's why I suggest to team up with a group and buy a barrel of NaCLO2, either in dry or wet form.

MMS (Master Mineral Solution) is Sodium Chlorite 28% (22.4% Sodium Chlorite, 5.6% Inert Salts and the remainder water) plus an acidic activator (usually 50% Citric Acid or 4% Hydrochloric Acid) when combined produces Chlorine Dioxide.
