Jeffers, after reading about Ortho-Phosphoric Acid or Phosphoric Acid (the same chemical) at different chemical websites, I think you could use it to activate MMS. They say it is non-toxic and is used in some cola soft drinks.

I have no idea what ratio of MMS to 10% Phosphoric Acid you would need. You could experiment and look for the usual yellow to amber color we see when using 4% HCL to activate MMS.

To be on the safe side I would probably only use it to make CDS as there should not be any MMS or acid activator in CDS.

jeffers Topic Author Offline Platinum Member Posts: 369 Thank you received: 198	thankyou very much for the explanation. i have discoverd that the 10% make up includes hydrocloric acid 5%. the sodium chlorite is 2.9% active chlorine dioxide precurser and wonder if its the same as mms. it is sold as a water purifier here in the uk. mms is hard to get.

TedSeay, thanks for that information.

Those 3 mg/l of ClO2 would measure 3 ppm CLO2 in 1 liter of water, which works out to be 3 mg of CLO2, the amount of CLO2 generated by their product.

By comparison, 1 ml of 3000 ppm CDS contains 3 mg of CLO2. Note that their NaCLO2 (Sodium Chlorite / SC or MMS) is 2.9% vs our MMS at 22.4% SC. So, to get a 3 mg dose of CLO2 one would need to ingest 1 liter of their product compared to 1 ml of 3000 ppm CDS (diluted in some water, of course).

MMS (Master Mineral Solution) is Sodium Chlorite 28% (22.4% Sodium Chlorite, 5.6% Inert Salts and the remainder water) plus an acidic activator (usually 50% Citric Acid or 4% Hydrochloric Acid) when combined produces Chlorine Dioxide.
