I down loaded the CD's to become a health minister. I read (I forgot where) in one of the topics that citric acid after one year becomes inactive. and the way to make it good again is to heat it up somewhat. What is the temperature that it needs to be heated to? If the mms and citric acid combined turn a deep amber after one year, isn't the acid still good? Please answer these questions.

Thank you

Larry

I've never had CA around for a year - so I have no experience directly. I would doubt that it would be inactive (if capped and kept out of direct sunlight). Any chemists in the crowd join in.

If it is producing a brown/orange colour and smells of chlorine when mixed with MMS - then it's good to go. But citric acid is very inexpensive - just mix a new batch? Or seize this opportunity to switch to HCL as an activator - it has advantages - especially when using it to produce CDH.
