Any suggestions where to get a postage scale that is accurate enough. Jim says it should be down to 1/10 of a gram. I haven't found one that is that accurate.

Hi Healer. Search for ' digital jewelry scale ' on your favourite online auction. I would suggest one which runs on aaa or aa batteries - the button batteries are fairly pricey.

Many of them start at $0.01 with free delivery which takes 2 to 3 weeks.

The problem with the jewelry scales is that they are small and inconvenient to read with a container on the platform. I gave up on them and went to a 5kg/10# digital kitchen scale with a resolutiion of 1 gm.

I use both of these scales and am very happy with them. Checkout the excellent reviews.

They are inexpensive. Be sure to buy the necessary calibration weights to zero them from time-to-time. When I have checked the calibration, neither really needed to zeroed.

I would also suggest getting a calibration weight. It's a little extra expense, but I find it of value. I also like the AWS 2000 - mine is a slightly different model, but it works well. Also, you need to be able to turn off the auto-off feature - JB, can you turn off the auto-off with your 2000 scale?

My scale has the auto-off feature - which has no off feature. (too late for your advice - long ago , not this time)

By organization, and anticipation of the sequence of events - it is possible to accomplish tasks. The time out only starts with - no activity - mine is about 30 seconds. So get everything organized beforehand. As long as you change the weight (even slightly) the time-out is reset - you have another 30 seconds.

Both my AWS scales have auto-shutoff, but as Martin says, any change in the weight, more or less, will keep it on. Not a problem with me now that I know that. If I think the scale is going to shut off, I just lightly touch it and it stays on.
