I just bought CDS for receding gum problem. What is the protocol for mixing and brushing. I can’t find it in this forum. Also no instructions given for how to open and store it.

Thank you,

Please tell us the CLO2 concentration of your CDS. The normal is 3000 ppm but 12,000 is also available.

CDS is fully activated and should be kept cold, below 50 F or 10 C degrees and out of light, especially sunlight. Most people keep it in the fridge.

When you open the bottle, remove the amount you need and then quickly put the cap back on so you don't lose any CLO2 gas.

For teeth brushing/gum use, I mix CDS with water (distilled water if you can get it) at the ratio of 1 part CDS to 3 parts water. You can increase/decrease the amount of CDS and find a ratio that works for you.

Thank you for the quick response. The cap top of my bottle is open now all the time. What can I use to secure it from the air? Can I secure with foil or something else to not let gas escape?

I would transfer the contents to a glass bottle that has a cap that seals tightly such as Schweppes 10 fl oz bottles from the grocery store or GTS Kombucha 16 fl oz glass bottles. Both have excellent caps.

I hope your CDS was cold when you opened it and you were able to seal it right away. Otherwise you may have lost some of the CLO2 gas. If you smell CLO2 gas you know some has escaped the bottle. :(

Can you post a link to where you bought the CDS so I can take a look at the bottle and cap? Thanks.

I keep a 1 fl oz bottle of CDS in my bathroom for teeth brushing. The bottle is not kept cold, but that small amount of CDS still works after a week or so. A glass eye dropper is used to take out a small amount of CDS which is mixed into some water in a glass shot glass. I then dip my tooth brush into that shot glass.

That glass bottle & wire clamp lid is what I use to keep my stock of CDS inside a fridge. I was able to locate silicone seals to replace the red seal you see in the photo, which is an unknown type of rubber that may be affected by CLO2 gas.

CLO2 - Good on you! I started using them back in 2012 without thinking about the seal. I just checked - and the seals are a little degraded - but only a little.

Did you get the seals online ?

Martin, I did get the silicone seals online. Here is one source I just found:

www.amazon.com/Silicon-Rubber-Grolsch-Bottle-Washer/dp/B016VXG2QA/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1510341040&sr=8-2-fkmr1&keywords=grolsch+gaskets+white+silicone+seals

The reason I use the bottle is because when we moved into this place a few years ago, the previous owner left behind boxes of empty 16 fl oz green Grolsch beer bottles!
