ppm of cds reads only 50 was created by dragon88
I have been making CDS for few years now using kalcker's method (5ml acid abd 5ml SC, in 250ml distilled water, repeating twice for 48hrs, using 1:59 dilution for testing the ppm ).  these past couple of times the ppm of cds reads only 50ppm instead of 100.  what factors could cause this?

Hi dragon88. 

I assume you are using LaMotte High Range CLO2 test strips. Your dilution of 1ml of CDS into 59ml of water is correct. So, 50ppm x 60 (1:60 dilution) would be 3000ppm CLO2 (CDS). Perfect. 

The dual infusion method of making CDS is only needed if you are using 4% HCL acid. If you use 50% citric acid only one infusion is needed, so your CDS is done in one day. But, the recipe changes. 250ml of CDS water and 12ml of 22.4% SCS + 12ml of 50% Citric Acid Solution (CAS). 

For the past six years I and another person have been developing the 3 hour Quick CDS methods and just the other day I was able to make 3100ppm CDS in 2 hours time by including a method developed by two people in Germany. 

Please read the attached PDF files. Note that one of the PDF files describes making 3000ppm CDS using the dual infusion method that I developed in 2015. The method was not developed by Andreas Kalcker. He found it on my website MMSinfo.org
