Any one have any tips on how to reduce the smell while preparing? I have been rinsing my nose with 1 drop citric acid/1 drop sodium chlorite, 1/4 teaspoon of salt and 8.5oz distilled water and my family is complaining about the smell even though I am using very little and have the windows open in my room and the bathroom. I don't want to stop using it as it is the only thing that has worked on my nose, as I have tried everything. I don't notice cause my sense of smell is gone but it is really bothering them.

You are making MMS1 and activating in an open container. There will be chlorine dioxide (CLO2) odor.

If you used CDS instead, you could mix your recipe and keep it in a closed nasal spray bottle. Store it in a fridge. I don't think any CLO2 odor will be detected.

I didn't understand what CDS was so I looked it up. So if I make the solution in a jar 1st by letting the gas enter the water overnight, that will make little to no smell? Just want to confirm if I understand correctly. I have nasal spray bottles and already have some mixed up in the bottle I made using the method I described in the original post.

When making CDS, the process happens in a closed container, so there should not be any CLO2 gas odor, compared to making MMS1 where activation happens in an open container, which releases CLO2 gas into the room.

When working with CDS you will have to learn how to transfer CDS to glass storage bottles that are kept in a fridge. Usually take the container outside when activation is complete, to transfer CDS into small glass storage bottles which are filled to the top so no air is in the bottles.

This is my old method of making CDS. A newer method can make CDS in about 3 hours time, call 'Quick CDS' which was developed about 3 years ago.

I decided to go with this method when I get some equipement:  mmsinfo.org/infosheets/CDS_Made_in_a_250_ml_Capacity_Canning_Jar.pdf . It is done almost completely closed and you can pull the cds out with a syringe so no smell.  Trying to avoid going outside as I don't have a private yard. I have my cart ready to go when I have the funds. I think it would work well with your 3 hour method, and I located that recipe on the site via search. Spent all day researching this, cause I am not going to give up using this.

MMS1 with water doesn't seem to last that long in the nasal rinse bottle I had, I'm using an old bottle from my snoot so I'm going to get some new ones. I have test strips coming, but in the meantime I am just going by feel, and it felt weak after a day. Since I really needed to make some more tonight and don't have the supplies yet to make proper cds, I just took an extra dropper bottle I had, put my drops in it, closed it, shook it, waited 60 seconds(been waiting 10 minutes previously, but found out I don't need to wait that long, let me know if I'm wrong), then added my water and then put that in my rinse bottle. I think it needs to be a higher strength as a spray than as a rinse as well, so I think tomorrow I am going to make it stronger.

When you make MMS1, the SCS (MMS) releases 10% of available CLO2, so MMS1 does not have much CLO2 when used outside stomach acid. Stomach acid may activate and release more CLO2 from residual SCS.

For what you are doing, activating SCS for 10 minutes is probably a good idea, trying to release more CLO2 from SCS.

Attached is one version of Quick CDS. And this photo shows how to do the same, if you don't have a two compartment bento box. When the color of both solutions are about the same, activation is finished and you can remove CDS from the container using a syringe.
