For my schedule, it works best for me to leave it sit longer, even up to 24 hours for the second time. I assume letting it sit longer is not an issue, because there is a maximum saturation of the CD in the water. Is this correct?

In an airtight container there’s no problem. Many times I’ve let a batch work up for 48 hours, if you were to shine a flashlight into the solution tiny activation bubbles can be seen.
