@Truthseeker

Much appreciated.

I'll be talking to my thyroid specialist this coming Monday to feel him out about his views about iodine and review a Body Density Scan I had recently. We seem to have a
bit of an understanding but I'm not expecting him to endorse any iodine protocol. I would put him the modern day quack category, like most doctors and specialists..

Thanks again,
Jim in Canada.

When you mentioned overactive parathyroid it got me thinking about the potential increase in calcium blood levels. Then in turn that made me think of vitamin K2 and of course vitamin D3....then boron, magnesium etc etc. Has your thyroid specialist talked about any of those in relation to your issue? from the following link:

Activated Vitamin D3 goes into bloodstream and throughout the body. In terms of its effect on the calcium balance, it has the most impact on absorption of calcium in the small intestines. It also caused the kidney to absorb more calcium from the urine, the parathyroid gland to make less PTH, and the bones to release calcium & phosphorus in small amounts while at the same time helping to mature the cells that make & reshape bone to make it stronger.

I've been taking 4,000 IU of vitamin D3 this year. Up from 2,000 IU the precious 3 years.

I started taking the D3 between my first and second BDS and got better numbers on my second scan. My recent BDS is my third and the first in about 2  years so expecting the same or maybe better numbers than my second scan. But I'm also 2 years older and into my third year as a senior citizen.

Are you taking any vitamin K2 MK7 and / or magnesium. The D3 increases calcium. Some think the body makes enough K2 from fermented foods, but I always have my doubts. Magnesium activates the D3 too.

No I haven't addressed the K2, MK7 or Magnesium yet. I will try to remember the magnesium issue with my specialist. I think it was marked off in my blood work I did.

Without K2 or magnesium, the increased calcium from the D3 can become a big problem. You may have heard that without it, the calcium doesn't know the best places in the body to go to and can end up in soft tissue. Perhaps this could also be linked to your overactive parathyroid.

It was my GP (general or regular doctor or practitioner) that first noticed what he thought was an elevated calcium level and set me up with the thyroid specialist. This was early/mid 2017. At this point I HAVE JUST STARTED Taking the Busch & Lomb PreserVision AREDS 2, a mineral/vitamin supplement for meduin aged macular degeneration. This contains 250 mg of vitamin C, 92 mg of vitamin E and 40 mg of Zinc Oxide per does, or 2x for a daily does. there are a number of other ingredients but no magnesium. And I take no other vitamins at this time. I'm  scheduled to see doc twice a year.

I do the initial thyroid related blood work. Have an office appointment. Based on the blood work results the doc recommends a NMI scan (Nuclear Medicine Imaging). I get that done spring of 2018. The results show I have one (of four) overactive thyroids. He then sets up a BDS and more blood work before my visit in the fall of 2018. There he talks about possible surgery to remove the overactive thyroid, but it's just talk. No surgery is set up.The fall 2018 office visit reviews the BDS and blood work.A 6 month follow up is arranged. It's after this visit that I start taking vitamin D (since renamed to D3) based on a medical article I read.I start at 2,000 IU per day. The spring 2019 visit reveals nothing alarming but another BDS and blood work are arranged for my fall 2019 visit. At this visit the doc notices my second BDS is actually better than the my first BDS. The doc is a little puzzled and I mentioned I had started taking 2,000 UI of D3 is the only thing I had changed. My other blood work was good. After this visit he said he only needed to see me once a year. In early 2021 I bumped my daily dosage of D3 up to 4,000 UI per day.

I'm not sure what the difference is between Zinc Oxide (of which I take 80 mg per day) and what I would call regular Zinc.I have recently added a Zinc 25 mg extra strength tablet twice a week.

I'm into my second week of the CDS R protocol for low grade prostate cancer. I was taking up 30 ml per day of CDS but didn't seem to do anything to lower my PSA number.I now use a 15 ml of CDS in a 500 ml bottle as a prophylactic against so call Covid-19 about 4 times a week. And the R protocol daily.

Thanks,
Jim

@Truthseeker

My first BDS in two years showed very good results according to my thyroid specialist. My magnesium levels according to my latest blood work is well within range.

The specialist had nothing to add for Kw and MK7 you mentioned.

I would guess at least some of the access calcium is making it into my bone structure. He had no warnings about access calcium levels.

In my province in Canada your GP (General Practitioner) can't get blood work done for vitamin D3 levels, even if you offer to pay for it. My specialist said he would add that request to my next blood work requisition. Time will tell if he can get that done.

No talks of surgery or medication now or in the near future. And he only wants to see me once a year.

That's about as good as you can get.

Thanks for your help,
Jim in Canada.

@ JimH1954

My magnesium levels according to my latest blood work is well within range.

If that was just a serum blood test then it's not of much use when concerning magnesium. Even if severely deficient, it will show as a normal range because the body keeps 99% of magnesium in the cells, and less than 1% in the blood. Thus a person that is sufficient, or deficient will show as the same in the blood. This occurs because the body knows magnesium is critical so holds onto it. An expensive EXA test is supposedly the most reliable way of testing levels.

@Truthseeker,

Thanks for the Magnesium feedback. The blood test not telling the whole magnesium picture makes sennse.

Truthseeker, do you have any experience with magnesium chloride or is that just another way to say magnesium?

Just found this article by Dr. Mark Sircus today.

M agnesium Chloride: One of Nature’s Primordial Substances for Healing — One Gram a Day
