Hello, I know that you have a preference for HCl, sorry for being stubborn or insistent, but you have to imagine several situations and possibilities, plan A, plan B, ..., plan Z, as a range of options in the "survival". I imagine some very poor village, where they have no electricity, or also some developed place where there was a natural disaster or blackout, and they can not get muriatic acid from which to obtain HCl. They manage to get citric acid, but they have no electricity to refrigerate, the only viable thing would be the wonderful "the antidote" to use in the daytime, here the question is, can it be made with citric acid?

Yes, it can. As I recall use 35% citric acid.

I agree with your idea of being able to make CLO2 in an emergency situation. I have been working on what I will probably call "The MMS Survival Kit" which uses dry sodium chlorite flakes and dry citric acid to make CDS and CDH. One reason to use dry ingredients is the long shelf life; 20 years for SC flakes and at least 9 years for citric acid granules.

Here is one example:

After further testing, I suggest to use 4g SC flakes and 8g CA granules.

No ClO2, I was referring to:

Ok

Let's see how Scott prepares "the antidote".

“The Antidote” is ten drops (0.5ml) of 20 to 25% Sodium Chlorite that has been acidified with ten drops (0.5ml) of 4% Hydrochloric Acid for exactly 5 minutes in a container that is narrow enough or sealed in such a way, so as to not allow hardly any of the Chlorine Dioxide gas to escape during the process (see photo of "Acidification Containers" below). After 5 minutes, the 1ml solution will have a concentration of 30,000 ppm Chlorine Dioxide

If instead of 4% HCl you used 35% citric acid, it would also be 0.5ml?

Would you also have to wait 5 minutes?

In the CDH example with the photo, since I used dry ingredients, activation took about 12 hours.

The antidote is made with liquids and can be made faster, but you end up with CDH in both cases.

"If instead of 4% HCl you used 35% citric acid, it would also be 0.5ml?"

I have not tested making 5 minute CDH with citric acid. You can do that and measure CLO2 ppm and let us know if 35% CA works.

I will have to see how to get the test strips, I will see who can get them for me on amazon.

So, it remains to be seen if "the antidote" will have the same effect with 0.5 ml of citric acid in 5 minutes of reaction.
