Does anybody has the CAS number for MMS2. It is confusing as many sites stated calcium hypochlorite, but there is a number "2" at the end of the formula -- Ca(OCl)2, is it that with or without that number 2, it is not relevant, ie both are the same

There is such thing as calcium hypochlorite, and dihypochlorite. I am not sure if they are the same. The CAS number is also not obvious in any sites or forum or book(s) I have encountered. There is also 70% and 65% being sold. Are these two ok?

Compare that to sodium chlorite, it is usually 80% crystals only.

There is a common brand from Japan.. Hi-Chlon 70G and Niclon-70G.. are these two already used by many? and they are ok?

The technical grade calcium hypochlorite is of course sold by reputed chemical companies, but they are like 5-10x more expensive. Even so, without the CAS number, it is kind of unclear.

MMS2 is calcium hypochlorite. It is sold in the US as a type of swimming pool shock. 65% to 70% is fine. I have seen it as low as 50% at Walmart. You can buy it online from sellers of MMS products. Click on the big BUY MMS button at the top of this page.

I have no idea what a CAS number is and Jim never mentioned it in his books, so it must not be important. The chemical name calcium hypochlorite is what you need to know. Now you know. :)
