DANIEL SMITH UPDATE
Aug. 13, 2016
How About Some GOOD NEWS?
1) GOOD NEWS: Daniel’s Imprisonment At Maximum Security Sea-Tac Detention Center has changed. He is still inside Sea Tac but has been moved to more of a county-jail-like area.
2) GOOD NEWS: With this move his work now is to pickup garbage and cigarette butts
OUTDOORS. He says it is nice to see the sun, green trees, and feel the breeze...again!
3) GOOD NEWS: Daniel was released for 58 Hours on a furlough to visit his mother. He had freedom to be with family, friends, his attorney, go out to dinner, etc. Of course, he returned early...staying in good graces with the Bureau of Prisons.
Back Inside Again ~ What’s Ahead...
Two Motions need our continued support and prayers.
The 1st motion is TO SEND HIM HOME TO SPOKANE UNTIL HIS APPEAL IS DECIDED.
This Release Motion is now pending at the Appellate Court in San Francisco. This motion is superbly written by Daniel’s attorney. To be sure, though, the Government is fighting his release tooth and nail. Pray the Justices of the 9th Circuit Appellate Court will rule in Daniel’s favor soon.
The 2nd motion is Daniel's actual APPEAL MOTION FOR THE APPELLATE JUSTICES TO REVERSE OR VACATE HIS CONVICTION. This Motion is not yet on the docket but is scheduled to begin (all the paperwork) in late October of this year.
Behind the Scenes...
How Did the Bureau of Prisons respond to the request to give Daniel a Furlough to visit his Mother? They Granted it! Daniel was given a
58-Hour Furlough. He was standing outside the Prison when we drove up to pick him up and drive him to Spokane. Where do you think his 1st requested stop was: Yup, Starbucks! I can not express how much it meant to me to see him as he feasted on the sights and sounds of freedom.
There were many deeply touching scenes. The purpose of the furlough was to visit his mother. He surprised and delighted her completely.
Seeing Daniel and Karis hug...and hug...and hug. Then his daughter Sabby couldn’t believe her eyes...her Dad was home. His sweet wife and daughter drove him back and made sure he was back in SeaTac before the Curfew was over. Are you able to fathom the feelings these three wept about?
Yet ...
His unjust days in jail/prison now add up to: 1,301.
Thank you all for supporting him and it is obvious prayers, sentiments and your sacrifices have reached heaven. Indeed ~ the furlough was such an unimagineable and breathtaking surprise. Of course it reduced Daniel’s trust account. Your love gifts at this time would be such a help.

Each email, letter, concern, donation, etc. will receive a prompt response and a receipt of course. Having seen all the Good News - is so empowering.
