ALS amyotrophic lateral sclerosis approved treatment in the EU

Although yet to be confirmed by further studies, it appears that sodium chlorite is beneficial in the treatment of ALS, since apparently stops the progression of the disease. From 19.06.2013 Sodium Chlorite is a legal drug for ALS Orphan. According to the EU orphan drug is one that meets the requirements:

The medicinal product “Sodium chlorite” is designated as an orphan medicinal product for the indication: Treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. It shall be entered in the Community Register of Orphan Medicinal Products under number EU/3/13/1139.
