Sam, a quick Internet search found the following:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerstmann%E2%80%93Str%C3%A4ussler%E2%80%93Scheinker_syndrome
"GSS is one of a small number of diseases which are caused by prions, a class of pathogenic proteins highly resistant to proteases."
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pathogenesis-related_protein
"Pathogenesis-related (PR) proteins are proteins produced in plants in the event of a pathogen attack."
Since MMS will kill pathogens, it might help for this disease using my layman's thinking.
