ClO₂ recipe checker and other calculators

I understand you can use stevia with CDH if taken orally, does it matter if it's alcohol or glycerine based or flavoured? Can it be mixed in juice? Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

SweetLeaf brand Sweet Drops in SteviaClear flavor (actually no added flavor) has been tested and it does not reduce CLO2 content.

In the subject of my post, I wrote, "Also ways to use it", so here's a way I used it just the other day which worked great.

While I was visiting my father and son in Hawaii for about a month, my wife decided to wash my blanket in our washing machine. Unfortunately though, my blanket must have sat in the washer for a long time in the heat here in Jakarta, before being taken out to be dried on the clothesline. Because of this my blanked smelled rotten due to bacterial growth in it. So what did I do? I reached for my trusty bottle of CDH, which had about 140ml of CDH in it. I filled the washer with about 50 liters of water and then added 100ml of CDH to the water. I then put my blanket in and let it soak for about 20 minutes before restarting the washer and letting it go through it's normal cycle. Took it out and dried it on the clothes line and then after it was dry, gave it a good sniff to see if the rotten smell was gone. Guess what? The smell was (and still is) completely gone.

So that's another way to use CDH which worked great! By the way, since I used 100ml of CDH, how many drops of MMS do you think were contained in those 100ml? The answer is below:

100 drops of MMS and 100 drops of 4% HCl. Which would have been a lot to count out and then activate for 30 seconds - imagine the smell coming from all those drops. Phewwwww!

I made the cdh overnight method and when tested my chlorine dioxide test strip was brown! Why?

Sounds like you didn't dilute it, or dilute it properly before testing with the test strips. (Thanks for that great document ClO2!)

Chrisss, next time you make CDH you might want to try CDH4000. Because it comes out to be 4000 ppm and uses 20 drops per ml as it's bases, all the numbers are much easier to work with.

By the way, if you don't already have a pipette for taking it out of the bottle, I highly recommend you get one (or some) because a 3ml pipette makes all the difference in the world when it comes to dosing. They're dirt cheap too.

Thank you. I made it a according to the instructions with one cup of water and two teaspoons of the sodium chlorite and 2 teaspoons of HCL. I quickly capped it and stored as in a dark place overnight. I checked the next morning and my dipstick was brown for the original solution. Then I took 9 ml of distilled water, and added one of my solution and then tested it after stirring a little bit. Even that came out Brown. I have made this the exact same way but instead of using two teaspoons of each I only used one that was for CDs and it came out fine. But I wanted to do the CDH this time. Multiple reasons. I'm thinking it's just way too strong. I guess that's why it turned brown. I do have pipettes. I do have Andreas clackers book coming tomorrow or Tuesday in the mail and hopefully he has some of this information in there. I'm going to try to deluting the whole batch by 50% and then testing it again with my 9 mm of water and one of the solution that it produces. I guess I'll get it eventually. Thank you so much.

Chrisss, I presume your CLO2 test strips are high range, 500 ppm? LaMotte number 3002.

You are only diluting your test solution 1:10 and it should be 1:100.

Did you read the PDF file I linked earlier?

Expected PPM is 3500 divided by 35 (reading on test strip container) equals 100 ml of distilled water. Actually, 99 ml and 1 ml of CDH.

Try that and let us know if it works.

You're right. Next time I'll do 99-1.
That would make a big difference.
Just testing the fresh batch, it was bro w n. Guess cause my strips only go to 500.
If I would have just did 99-1. It would have probably been fine.
