My canary became very ill 9 months ago, due to laying 2 ‘soft shelled eggs’ This means the shells were soft and the yolk leaked into her reproductive system. The eggs DID come out.

The leakage resulted in infection, and she was hardly moving, had a bulge on her rear end. I took her to the vet, got antibiotics which I fed her a prescribed for 1 week. She improved a bit, but the bulge was still 50% in size.

I then gave her CDS in her water, and got a GREAT result in 2 weeks. Bulge totally gone, and she was back to normal, flying, bounding, singing.

Unfortunately 2 months ago the lump started to appear and grow again, plus her feathers began falling out on her head. I gave her the same dose of CDS which got a result before, but this time its not helping her completely. I believe it is saving her from dying, and she is behaving as if nothing is wrong with her - singing, flying, eating like a v healthy bird. But the lump on her rear end is bigger than ever.

I took her to the vet last week, and the vet thinks she has cancer, but was impressed she was still alive and behaved like a healthy bird. The vet thinks the lump is cancerous, and also full of liquid (water i guess).

3 days ago I doubled her CDS dose, which is now v accurate for her weight, which I now know to be 27gm. No positive signs yet.

I have Q’s re applying cds direct to the lump on her rear end? I have some DMSO pharma grade arriving in 2 weeks. In the meantime, I thought I would mix 1 drop of CDS 12,000 (good source from an industrial chemist- not me) with 2 drops of water, and use a dropper to drop 1-2 drops on her lump, once a day for a week or 2 . Is this a good thing to do, or should the ratio, application be different??

When I receive the DMSO, I understand I should mix a ratio of 2 dmso, CDS equiv to 1 mms, and 2 water. I would then apply 1-2 drops of the mix on her lump each day and see what happens. Does this sound like a good plan??

I don’t think she will die within the next month, simply because she behaves like a healthy bird - thanks to the CDS I put in her drinking water. But the lump, and thinning feathers on her head suggest she needs more, or she will pass on within months.

Thanks in advance
Peter

I've had an after thought query re' the number of drops i should drop on her lump. As she only weighs 27 grams (1 ounce), I certainly need some knowledgable guidance.

I estimate her total MMS Equivalent intake through drinking water each day, should be 0.01% of 1 mms drop. My calculations are based on 1 drop per hour for each 25Kg, * 8 hours.
>>> 8 drops per day divided by 25kg grams, times 27 grams = 0.0086.....close to 0.01% of a drop. Working with canaries is like working with fine Jewelry :)

So, having said this, I'm wondering if 1 drop of my mix above, especially with DMSO, may be result in too much CDS / MMS absorbing into her body for a 27 gram pet. On the other hand, it may turn her into a Massive Super canary :)

thanks again
Peter

A correction to my % numbers above. Should be 1% of an MMS drop, not 0.01%

OK, no experience here with canaries. But I will say that humans can do very high doses of CDS (I've heard of up to 100mL a day over 10 hours) with no problems, so it's entirely possible that the dosing is fine.

Re skin application - I would ask the vet if canaries can have a drop of DMSO - I know that most vet stores have sold DMSO for vet applications - so I'm guessing it's OK, but I don't know - if he gives the OK, you can use the CDS with 1 drop of the 70% DMSO added, and place that on the cyst or cancer (whichever) with a q-tip or cotton ball. I would continue with the CDS in the water.

I THINK you're in new territory here - I'm hoping that we do have someone who has used it on birds. My thoughts are with you!

thanks Pam. Very helpful re' amount of CDS humans, and canaries can be OK with.

Re' the 70% DMSO. Is 100% DMSO OK to use with CDS and MMS ?

Yes, but even with humans sometimes 100% (or 99.9%) is a bit much on the skin - Jim says to use 70%. Morton Davis (the doc who wrote "DMSO, Nature's Healer" mentions diluting it - you could dilute just a bit at a time. Distilled water, since DMSO is a carrier.
