Hi Pam,

I've recently joined this forum and I think its wonderfull and you seem to be one of the more experienced so I hope you don't mind me asking you what might seem a silly question.

Having dissolved the sodium chlorite in the warm distilled water and filtered away any reminents of the powder the solution is still somewhat cloudy - this is the 2nd try and the same result. Is it supposed to be completely clear?

I find that when I'm making MMS, I gently heat it in a pyrex pan (must be glass or ceramic) until the SC dissolves. (Distilled water, use a dedicated plastic spoon, so that you're not bringing any sort of contaminants to the mix)

During that period of time, there are teeny tiny bubbles that make it look a bit cloudy. It seems to me that this is air bubbles being released - I'm using very little heat...

After the SC is dissolved, then I let it sit for a while to cool down before bottling it. It's during this cool down period that the MMS clears back out again. I have no need to filter it. IMHO, every time you add another "thing" to the mix (like the filter paper, etc), there is an opportunity to add something that might cause a problem. When making MMS, I only use glass or plastic.

Thanks for the advice Pam. The dedicated stiring spoon is what I need (although I have re-washed the spoon I used each time with pure distilled water). Now that the solution is starting to cool I can see some small particles falling to the bottom of the glass Ive been using. Could it be that the sodium chlorite I got online is contaminated? It seems I have 2 types of sodium chlorite amonst the jars which I purchased - 1 type seems like moist and salty crystals and the other seems hard dry and flakey (the one I've used so far is the moist crystals).

I sure do appreciate your advice on this as its my 1st time actually making the solution.

It would be nice to help others who experience the same problem so if you know of another way to get them to you or the group let me know. Thanks again Al

MMS (Master Mineral Solution) is Sodium Chlorite 28% (22.4% Sodium Chlorite, 5.6% Inert Salts and the remainder water) plus an acidic activator (usually 50% Citric Acid or 4% Hydrochloric Acid) when combined produces Chlorine Dioxide.
