Thanks for the dosing clarification.
Yes, I think the dosing on page 300, 1.5–2.5–2.0 is a mistake. It must be 1.5–2.5–4.0
When making MMS1 and you activate for 30 seconds, CLO2 is escaping from the mixing container during the entire 30 second time period. When making CDH that does not happen because as soon at the last ingredient is added to the bottle, the cap goes on, so no CLO2 can escape. Yes, every time you open a bottle of CDH some CLO2 can escape, especially if the temperature of the CDH is above 10C (50F).
You can transfer CDH to much smaller bottles after the 12+ hour activation period so the entire stock of CDH won't be opened up to the atmosphere every time you need to take out a dose. Before you do that, cool the CDH down to at least 10C (50F) in a fridge.
When I take out a dose of CDH, I take off the bottle cap and my left thumb immediately covers the bottle top. I only remove my thumb when I insert a syringe or pipette into the bottle (using my right hand), take out a dose and when that is done, my thumb again covers the bottle top and then the cap goes back on. The bottle is opened to the air for only a few seconds.
Less CLO2 will escape when in a water solution such as CDH or CDS, than when making MMS1 because there is no water for CLO2 to combine with during the 30 second activation period. CLO2 is happy to stay in a cold water solution!
