Can anyone tell me if the color of MMS/activator mixture is an indication of strength? I ordered mms and activator a year ago and the mixture has always been pale yellow. When we were at the DR seminar at Xmas we were told the mixture color should be dark yellow/brown. Today I made my own mixture with Sodium Chlorite flakes and Citric acid. I recall reading somewhere that powder is more potent than flakes. The color of my fresh mix(mms & C acid) is pale yellow. Of course my wife is convinced that she has been taking a weakened, inafective dose all this time. Is there a test for the strength? I know cds can be tested but how about the basic mix? Does the mixture color vary with different sources of Sodium Chlorite?
Thank you for any input on this.

It's a dark yellow brown when activated. When unactivated, it's a pale yellow or yellow-green. The testing strips measure chlorine dioxide, so you would want to use them on a dose of MMS that has been activated (with water added) -

Thank you for the reply but maybe I didn't make myself clear. The activated mms we have been using, purchased from Keavys has always been light yellow. When at the seminar we had solutions that were dark yellow/brown. I have mixed my own from raw ingredients purchased from suppliers and the color again (activated) is light yellow. Is this an indication of low strength or just the way it is with certain products?

The color will depend on the SC that was used to make the MMS, and what the "other 20%" fillers are in the 80% SC. I know that Steve uses a special SC, very pure, which is not in flake form (think it's powder) -

Usually a dark brown means to me that the MMS has already begun to activate. I made a batch once that was dark brown and realized I had patted down the citric acid (it's supposed to be packed, for measuring) - and later when making MMS, used the same spoon - even though it did not appear to have any CA crystals on it.

I think you're OK. The thing you want to watch for is that when you ACTIVATE it, that it turns dark yellow to brown.

John, your directions confuse me a bit. Are you making separate bottles of MMS and citric acid?

When I make my mms, I weigh in .1 grams, not ounces. I weigh my SC flakes, and my water.

Many Thanks for your response, yes I am making seperate bottles of mms and citric acid, also I crush my SC flakes before adding to 4oz drip bottles, then distilled water. Just curious if weighing both (SC & Citric Acid) exackly the same weights (1.54oz) before adding water to each was a good process, seems to be 'brown' after, but want to be sure. John

In the MMS book Jim Humble says use 1.54 oz of flakes (crushed) to make 4oz bottles of MMS, o'kay, but how do you measure citric acid for the other 4oz bottle? Many Thanks, John
