Ok Pam... I have to ask....

Why wasn't Jim using a ceramic stone the his new video that just came out today... just curious ?

I haven't the faintest idea! The bottle he was making the CDS in was too small to accept the stone at the neck, I think, but I don't know if that was the reason. Some people were having problems with the diffusers - the plastic barb was "melting" down - maybe he started to have problems this way, too. He didn't say -

I think it is clear he is no longer using the diffuser stones. He is getting the results he needs without them. I also think that they would melt with the new method of putting the reaction bottle into HOT water. The gas output is very strong and that is what melts the plastic.

I have used the diffusers a number of times on my forced air set up and never had one melt, but when I was using heat, I did see some melting. And I don't think it was because the gas itself is hot, but because the gas is much more dense when heat is applied to the reactor without any forced air to dilute it.
